True or False Contest

Meep Jammers! ^.^
We finally have 75 followers, thank you! :)
I'm also going to have a party for it, but I'm not sure when. I will probably merge it with my blog anniversary party which may, or may not be, on the 10th May. I'll have to figure out a good timing for everyone! ^.^

Rules:
No looking up the answers on the internet, unless marked by a * - that's cheating and you will be
disqualified.
Books and knowledgeable people exist!
If you think the answer is false then please state what the true answer is!
Do not copy other people's comments! For this, I'll have comment moderation up.
No entering again with another username!
No mean comments if you don't win!
If you don't understand a question, feel free to comment and ask what the heck I mean! ^.^

Anyway, here are the Qs!

1. True or False: cats and dogs see in black and white.
2. True or False: a bat can eat up to 1,000 insects in a night.
3. True or False: the longest recorded flight for a chicken was 13 minutes.
4. True or False: flies eat a lot in proportion to their size.
5. True or False: the world's smallest ever dog was a chihuahua.
6. True or False: 12 koalas stacked on top of each other would equal the height of a giraffe.
7. True or False: (about) 10,000 bats live in the world's largest bat colony.
8. True or False: Earth travels about 2,600 million miles every day.
9. True or False: no words in the English dictionary rhyme with the word "oven" (sound, not spelling).
10. True or False: days are longer than years on planet Mercury.

This contest will be closed on the 14th May (2013)! You can enter on the 14th, though ^.^

The prizes for first place are:

And for second place:

Good luck! ^.^

  5. 1. False. Learned that in 4th grade, while dogs/cats don't see colors as clearly, or vividly as humans they still can perceive color.
    2. Depends on the species. If your talking about brown bats they can eat that much in an hour. I did a report on brown bats last year, so I did technically get that offline, but it WAS a year ago.
    3. False. 13 SECONDS. ≧∇≦ That's a guess, it just seems silly to watch a chicken fly for so long!
    4. True
    5. True, but they kind of, vomit, a lot.
    6. Hm... Koala's are like, what? 2 feet tall. 12 of them would be 24 feet, I'm 5'2... I'm gonna say true.
    7. Someone told me there was over 40 million, so I'm going with false.
    8. False. 1.6 million miles.
    9. True, although there are combinations of words, there isn't a single word CURRENTLY that rhymes with it.
    10. False, but they are only roughly 30 days apart. Stole my sister's science book for this ≧∇≦

  6. I'll enter!
    1. False, they can see in a muted tint of colors, but not quite limited to black and white. .3.
    2. False, bats can eat up to about 3,000 insects in a night.
    3. False, it was 13 seconds! XD
    4. True
    5. True
    6. False, I think it would take about 9 koalas stacked. That would look funny! 8D
    7. False, the world's largest bat colony has about 40 million bats!
    8. False, it travels about 1,608,000 miles per day. Makes me feel dizzy... o.O My Dad helped me with that one.
    9. False, because the word "coven" rhymes. I think it means a group of witches.
    10. True. Strange phenomenon! o.O <-- More dizziness! XD
I hope I get them right...! Fun contest!

    1. false because dogs and cats see different colors than us but not black and white.
    3. false because I read in a world records book it was 13 SECONDS, not minutes
    4. I think this one is false because that would be a TON of food and bugs to eat for a bat!
    6. false, i am pretty sure koalas are much smaller than that, and even if they are stacked!
    8. false, i am most likely positive i learned that we don't travel THAT far in one day!!
    9. false because coven rymes, and much more!
    10. false, i am thinking that i learned at school that they are SHORTER than one.

I reaseared on a book, and it said that an avarage koala bear is 34 cm. 34 cm is 2ft and 10 in. So, if we stacked the 12 koala bears together on top of each other, we will get 25.20 feet. A giraffe is only 18 feet, so therefore it doesn't equal the size of the giraffe.
    7. I dont know of this is true or not, but its false.
On a book, it says that the largest bat colony was 20 million! Its located at Bracken cave.
    8.false
The earth travels around 1.6 million miles per day.

A rhyme for oven is "sloven"
    The meaning of sloven is
a person who is habitually negligent of neatness or cleanliness in dress, appearance, etc.

    9. False, coven! It's a gathering of witches. ^.^ In one of my favorite books. :D
