Winner of the Poem Contest

Meep!

I must say some of your poems were pawesome! It's been hard choosing the best, but here is the winner's poem:

Songbirds’ whimsy chorus banishes winter’s woe

And creamy laced blossoms adorn the young cherry

After long beneath cold ice sprinkled with soft snow

Shining goldfish awake to join the spring merry

This is what it could have been far back up North where

The soft rays of sun shed gently down upon me

Pale yellow butterflies flit with bliss here and there

My heart belongs up North yet they just cannot see

What have I left behind me, my good days of young

The blazing Southern sun cannot veil my teardrops

I yearn for the song that all the birds up North sung

For the soothing breeze that whispered in the treetops

I have only memories of my life up North

The dry brittle grass crunches sharp under my feet

All the pines choke my optimism and so forth

Now I am trapped by the South sun’s relentless heat

But maybe, just maybe, perhaps on a slight chance

There is something in the South for me to cherish

Is it the peaceful crashing of waves as they dance

Or the awe striking thunder that makes fear perish

I may live in the South where the fiery sun

Shines without rest till it sets in a blaze of art

But now I’m in the South I do not have to run

I know that I’ll be forever North in my heart.

 I chose this one because it, firstly, is extremely well written and also because I can relate to it... D:
